#1 Tip To Surviving The Professional Audition Process

Carol is our fictitious actress who enjoys a steady booking of lead roles for some major regional theatres in Atlanta, Orlando and Seattle areas.  One of her frequently booked theatres added the musical Hairspray to their season. It was her dream to play the role of Velma Von Tussle.  Carol knew she would be straight-booked into the show without an audition due to well-reviewed work at that theatre.  That did not happen.  She emailed the artistic director sharing her interest in playing the role and his response was to attend the audition.  She did. She was invited to the callback with other women in consideration for the role.  When the cast list was announced she was not on it…anywhere. Carol was furious and considered never working for the theatre again.  Were her feelings justified?  Watch the short video and find out.
